A Rockin Happy Hour

Fresh

off the one-year anniversary of its opening, Rockfish Public House gives downtown York an equally fresh take on happy hour.

From 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, it’s $1 off all drinks served at the Rockfish bar. Grab a seat and select from among 24 draft beers on tap — many from local breweries such as Collusion Tap Works, Liquid Hero Brewery and Wyndridge Farm. Sample wines by the glass and bottle ranging from an exquisite Benvolio, Italy, pinot grigio to a full-bodied Ferrari-Carano red blend from Siena, California.

Set the Rockfish mixologists to work crafting you a cocktail that takes your taste buds out to the bay and back. The RPH Rum Punch packs a punch of its own with a combo of Sailor Jerry spiced rum, amaretto and pineapple and orange juices. Bay shooters will rock your palate, but not the boat, with its vodka, spicy bloody mary mix and freshly shucked oyster trio. Exclusive to Rockfish Public House, the Holla Rock blends Holla Vodka (page 32) with dry vermouth and a pickle brine in a fresh dill-rubbed martini glass accompanied by a pickled onion and baby green tomato garnish.

Pair your drink with some half-price appetizers. Rockfish has you covered with steamed mussels and littleneck clams, tuna and Chesapeake chicken nachos, and barbecue shrimp skewers. Fresh from the raw bar, Maryland local oysters served on the half shell are half off.

Stay for a seafood supper or venture down to North Beaver Street for some dinner at Rockfish’s sister York establishment, the White Rose Bar & Grill (page 44).
