Relationships Matter: Serving Up a Wealth of Hospitality

Cinnamon and vanilla aromas scent the air inside Alyssum Keefer’s Manchester kitchen.

An array of golden cupcakes line cooling racks awaiting their fluffy buttercream frosting topping. Such homemade creations are a frequent source of enjoyment for friends, family and guests who universally appreciate Alyssum’s talents and passion for hospitality.

Growing up with a grandmother and mother who were avid bakers and cooks, Alyssum’s motivation for baking was inspired by how they demonstrated their love for family through home cooking. Today, her baking talent is sought after, as many frequently request hand-decorated cakes for special occasions. Years ago, she partnered with a friend at the YorKitchen workspaces in Central Market to fill orders for birthday cakes and other treats. Although she later left to prioritize family life, she still treasures time spent preparing desserts in her home kitchen.

Alyssum also treasures sharing her talents and enthusiasm for hospitality as the York branch manager of Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC, where she spearheads the client service efforts of the Smith, Mayer & Liddle wealth advisory group. Just as she inherently knows the proper mix of ingredients to put in a cake everyone will love, it’s similarly natural for her to recognize the uniqueness of each client and put a personal touch on client service.

She credits her colleagues Kevin Smith, Holly Mayer and their retired partner James Liddle for their example, and for giving her the opportunity to thrive with a team where hospitality and relationships matter.

“We treat our clients like they are our family and friends,” she says. “We try to remember even the smallest details and are eager to address their needs promptly. We’re often complimented on our responsiveness and regard for our clients, but to us it’s just natural and nothing extraordinary. Like Kevin and Holly, I genuinely care about helping others and making a difference. It’s the little, seemingly insignificant, things in my mind that are often big and consequential in the minds of others.”
