In 1968, Jim Conrad made the bold decision to start his own fluid power distribution company from a rented garage on Court Street in York City. Fifty years later, Conrad’s company — still based in York — is an innovative leader in engineering. From hydraulics to robotics, PennAir powers what’s possible in automation helping customers make their machines and plants more efficient, productive and safer.

Providing their customers with exceptional service is something PennAir takes to heart. This service is about more than simply stocking and selling parts. With the demand for products and services changing rapidly — along with the expectations for ordering, purchasing and delivering them — PennAir has responded with innovation: robots, autonomous industrial vehicles, and custom engineered applications.

“As we pivoted, we were looking for a banking partner that could act creatively and responsively, especially as we needed to expand our physical space,” says PennAir Chief Operating Officer Seth Bray. That partner is York Traditions Bank.

“Our responsiveness has to do with the fact that we’re a local bank dedicated to serving our community. Our creativity comes from our team of people who know the area because they live and work here,” says Krista Blasser, Senior Business Services Partner for York Traditions Bank. “It’s our commitment and mission to be a community bank for generations. We are growing because local businesses are growing. When we work with evolving companies like PennAir and help them to succeed, the entire community benefits as a result.”

Cheryl Rhein, PennAir’s Chief Executive Officer and daughter of the company’s founders Jim and Mary Conrad, says York Traditions Bank and PennAir have similar core values, such as integrity, mutual respect, and trust.

“Just like York Traditions Bank, building relationships is at the center of our culture. We are now working with businesses we weren’t serving 10 or 50 years ago,” she says. “While our core values haven’t changed, we have positioned ourselves to be relevant long into the future.”
