Welcome Home: The House That Love Built
The studio is able to support not only leaders in York, but everyone in between — from nurses and teachers to first-responders, students and those looking to be uplifted by people who care. Its donation-based mission present since its founding continues today. The success of the studio — all of the workshops, trainings, events and House of Yoga’s recent expansion — is built from the community — teachers and students alike.
Jackie Dahlheimer remembers a different York City when she opened House of Yoga as its owner and founding teacher in 2016. “Now, there seems to be this underground vibe happening downtown. Being in the heart of the city, we notice that connecting to the yoga studio taps you into everything else,” she says. With teachers and students who work all over the city, House of Yoga’s community seeps into the veins of York beyond the practice on the mat.
Student Mary Owens sums up this feeling:
“I’m supported there. No matter how I walk in the door, I come out feeling whole, connected and empowered. It’s magic. It’s home.”
