The Doodle Life: Let’s Design Stuff

With her notebook full of doodles and her Spotify cranking, YRK Creative art director Becky Tibbits is off on another creative sprint. Whether rockin’ the typography, the tunes (or both), the soul of this artist emerges through the stuff she designs.

Q. How would you describe your design style?

A. My design style tends to be clean and more on the corporate side, but when the project allows, I like to break the grid and do crazy experimental typography.

Q. When you think about Yorks arts and culturewhat comes most to mind?

A. The sense of community and how friends are family. There isn’t a competition to be better than the next person, but rather be the best you can be.

Q. Whats your favorite medium of art you enjoy working with?

A. Currently, I am really enjoying experimenting with chalk pastels. I like that I can add a punch of color to my work and also be a little messy.

Q. Where would you like to see your art and design work go in the future?

A. Design wise, I would love to create typographic pieces. I really enjoy working with typography  and would really like to push my skills in that area further. Art wise, I would love to eventually have pieces shown at local art galleries and eventually move into more mixed media with anything from paint to collages. I really like art where I can be both meticulous and messy.
