Your neighborhood needs you. York needs you.

On Saturday, June 1, it’s your turn to give your love on YO’RK Day.

Hosted by LEXI (the League of Exceptional Individuals), YO’RK Day will bring people together from across York City at Penn Park for a day of building community and family. Adults and children can participate in sports and fitness activities along with art and music events. A Big Bayou Bash cookout courtesy of Cornbread West (see pages 10–11) will serve up a New Orleans–style crab boil and cuisine.

YO’RK Day is made possible by Stick-N-Move Boxing, BYC, Calvary United Methodist Church, Union Lutheran Church, Beast Mode, and the Children’s Aid Society. Sponsors for YO’RK Day are Gerry Wevodau, J.L. Lutz Construction and the Dodd Foundation – Pennsylvania Child Foster Care.

“We’re doing this to give people a different perspective about York,” says April Collier, owner of Cornbread West and founder of The League of Exceptional Individuals, a mentorship program created to empower the youth of York City to identify and choose successful futures. “This day isn’t about agendas. Please come and give your love. We don’t want anything extra — just you.”
