The Capitol Theatre at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts was built in 1906 and has long been the home of entertainment and performing arts education in downtown York. This fall, the Capitol Theatre invites the entire York community to rediscover the fully renovated theatre and experience the unparalleled vibe of live entertainment.
Thanks to a $2 million renovation made possible by a Pennsylvania First Grant* and two successful fundraising campaigns, patrons will enjoy the amenities they have been waiting for: new and improved seating and restrooms, improved sightlines, expanded lobby and concessions areas, and upgraded lighting, audio and projector technology.
The Capitol Theatre’s Grand Reopening is a momentous occasion, a celebration with not just one kickoff event, but three weeks of musical acts, comedians, films and more:
