Have It Made Here: York County Maker’s Pride
York County maintains a rich history of industries and entrepreneurs that have flourished and a strong maker mindset among those who live and work here.
To tell this maker story, York County needed a destination brand identity. Its purpose was to create a unified county brand that identified what makes our destination unique and attractive to visitors.
The Brand York Project was officially launched in early 2019 by a collaborative effort of partners including Explore York, Downtown Inc, the York County Community Foundation, the York County Economic Alliance, the Cultural Alliance of York County, the County of York and Main Street Hanover.
Out of this collaborative effort, have it made here emerged. Local communities, businesses and organizations within York County are encouraged to leverage this tagline to cultivate their pride and support of the brand.
Currently, you can find branded merchandise in our Historically Edgy downtown at businesses such as Kaletta’s and Sunrise Soap Company on North Beaver Street.
Over the next several years, Explore York will continue to lead the charge to educate the community and share how the brand can be integrated into many facets of York County life. Please contact Louise Heine, Explore York’s destination marketing director, to learn how businesses and individuals can embrace “have it made here” to increase and build brand awareness for York County. What makes York a maker community?
“‘Have it made here’ offers something for all local communities and organizations within York County. The word ‘made’ is driven from our maker’s spirit, but it can take on many different meanings, such as ‘history made here,’ ‘your future made here’ and ‘memories made here’ — all examples of how this brand evolves.”
