Building a Real Estate Business Through a Culture of Authentic Collaboration
Josh Jackson has always naturally thought outside the box. Throughout his 13-year career in mortgage banking, real estate sales and investing, he estimates participating in at least 500 successful transactions.
Within each of his first three years as a licensed real estate agent, Jackson — team leader and owner of two offices in York County and a top agent in the area — has sold approximately 75 homes per year since becoming an agent in 2016. When he discovered eXp Realty LLC, a cloud-based real estate brokerage, he decided to align and hang his license with an innovative brokerage leader in real estate.
The structure of eXp Realty, Jackson says, has built a culture of “authentic collaboration”: Technology gives Jackson and his team access to agents across the country (in all 50 states) and Canada. Jackson’s alignment with eXp Realty combines the resources of a publicly traded company with a small business setting, which has allowed Jackson to build a family atmosphere inside his Pine Street building. The building itself is family-owned and formerly a York branch of the Mrs. Smith’s Pie Company.
Since eXp Realty does not exist as a traditional brick-and-mortar brokerage, the company uses savings on physical infrastructure to provide top-notch technology, incentivize agents and brokers with equity awards, and share revenues with agents who choose to support and attract other agents to eXp Realty.
Over the past year, Jackson has opened two physical office locations in York and Hanover, built his team from three agents (including his wife Amanda) to six and now supports seven other full-time agents and counting between his two office locations.
“This is the place where I was born and raised,” he says. “York and Adams counties are a great place to build a real estate business. I want to contribute back to these communities by attracting talented agents and continue building a culture of ‘authentic collaboration’ to be the best real estate resource for those we serve.”
How does art inspire you in your work?
“What people outside of real estate may not realize is that a real estate transaction has many moving factors. Good real estate professionals are very artistic in the way they piece together a sale tailored to the buyer or seller they are helping.”
